Donors_Forum.jpg

We just participated in a fantastic webinar presented by Delia Coleman, the Donor’s Forum Director on Public Policy.  Did you know that registering new voters and offering voting reminders are the actions that take the lowest input from your organization and have the highest return (in the form of people voting)?  It is important to stay nonpartisan, but there is a lot you can do within the legal limits to promote your causes and encourage civic engagement.  The presentation is available for you to view here.

If you have more questions about  your options in an election year, check out these websites:

As the Chronicle of Philanthropy pointed out last week, it has been 5 years now that non-profits have been operating in times of economic uncertainty.  Take a bow, you’re still standing!  Learning to be a better fundraiser is still helpful to any organization.  Expert fundraiser Mazarine Treyz, author of The Wild Woman's Guide to Fundraising, and Steve Havelka, a Web-design consultant who is on the board of the Austin Civic Orchestra recently weighed in on the Fundraising Fundamentals Podcast with their 9 Tips for Raising More Money in 2012.  We won’t give it all away here, but building long term relationships and marketing skills (not to be confused with sales skills), are major.  What is your organizations story?  What makes your cause relevant?  What is the vision you're communicating?  Do you use hootsuite.com?  Okay, enough teasers,  listen to the podcast here.

While there a few who have doubts about the study's ability to encompase multiple variables, there are many stories of sucess that help support it.

2005volunteer_and_child_images_011.jpgEllen Bush, the executive director for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Montana, found huge sucess with their efforts of advocacy.  Working with state in montana they were able to get a $115,000 to $300,000 increase per year in local program funding.  Read more sucess stories here.

Re:Considered successrful return on a mail campaign
I found a really good blog on measuring the success of a direct mail fundraiser. They list the different metrics to pay attention to. (I.E. the amount each donor gave) Let me know if this helps. http://goo.gl/urv6n To be honest measuring the success of a fundraiser depends on the goals s...

I would ask two questions first. 1. How many letters were mailed out? 2. How many mailed in a donation? -Johnny Kraps PR/Marketing Intern The Lumpkin Family Foundation
