Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Illinois Capital Region (BBBS) has been a community leader in positive youth development for more than thirty-eight years. The demand for our programs continues to grow as more people recognize the fact that mentoring can positively affect children. Experience has demonstrated that through mentoring relationships, children (Littles) who receive one-to-one mentoring with a positive role model (Bigs) develop encouraging attitudes toward school; achieve higher grades; improve relationships with their peers, families, teachers, and other adults; express their feelings in a positive manner; and develop higher levels of self-confidence.
