The Only non-profit professional Equtiy theatre between Chicago and St. Louis. Located in the community of Sullivan, IL a town of 4,400 people. 2011 will mark the 54th season of artistic excellence for the theatre that was founded in 1957 as a for-profit theatre. In 1981, a group of area citizens re-opened the theatre as a non-profit organization serving the entire central Illinois community. The Little Theatre provides 10 mainstage musicals each year, 32 classes in dance and drama with over 350 students from a 60 mile radius, 2 educational tours to schools throughought the entire state playing to over 50,000 students each year and has annual attendance in-house of over 50,000.
The Little Theatre On The Square is a not-for-profit theatre devoted to enriching the lives of our community by offering high quality performing arts, education, and outreach programming. Since 1957, The Little Theatre On The Square has operated as the only professional (Actors’ Equity Association affiliated) theatre between Chicago and St. Louis, providing a unique experience for Central Illinois residents with year-round arts and education programs for all ages. While celebrating our rich history, we look forward to growing with our community bringing new cultural experiences, emerging artists, and innovative performances to the region.
