At the last non-profit time out, there was some discussion regarding a group of non-profits collaborating to hire an IT person. I have a lead on a good IT person who is interested in supporting the non-profit community as well as earning a little money! :) Is anybody interested in pursuing this concept? If so, please reply to tlawrencebbbs@consolidated.net. Thanks so much!

Mid-Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking at the possibility of hiring a part-time communications specialist to help build partnerships in the community to access volunteers, funds and other resources. I think it might be easier to hire a full time communications specialist but funding is a problem. I wondered if anyone out there might have an interest in half-time as well and then the person would have a full-time position. Just a thought. Call me if you have any interest!

Big Brothers Big Sisters is currently distributing Christmas gifts to the families of children enrolled in our program. We try to be sure that we are not duplicating with any other holiday distributions; however, not all non profits are currently able to share their lists of families receiving help for the holidays. I think it would be very helpful if groups which provide holiday help would ask families or individuals who request help to sign a release allowing their name to be shared with other groups providing similar help. This would eliminate most if not all duplication of effort. Big Brothers Big Sisters currently has such a release and we share our list with those that ask. Maybe if we work on this by next holiday season we will have it figured out! :)
