Please join us for an information session on the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) a new piece of legislation signed into law by Governor Quinn on June 30, 2009. UPMIFA introduces a new standard of prudence governing when a nonprofit can spend their endowment. Under the old law, UMIFA, nonprofits were banned from spending endowment funds if they dip below their historic or initial dollar value. Learn what the new standard means for nonprofits in Illinois, including those struggling to stay financially sustainable.

Speakers include:

  1.  Therese Harris, Chief, Charitable Trust Bureau, Illinois Attorney General
  2. Larry Johnson, Senior Tax Manager, Sikich & Gardner LLP
  3. Vicki Megginson, Senior Vice President, University of Illinois Foundation
  4. John Stremsterfer, Executive Director, Sangamon County Community Foundation
