This article from the May 20, 2009 Stanford Social Innovation Review is a great discussion about social entrepreneurship by Paul C. Light. It not only defines social entrepreneurship, but describes who can become a social entrepreneur.

Good description of the characteristics of a social entrepreneur: 1) Social entrepreneurs are not like other high achievers...they have made a decision to solve social problems and have unshakable optimism. 2. Socially entrepreneurial ideas are big. 3. Opportunities for grant change come in waves. 4. Socially entrepreneurial organizations are built to make change.
